The 16 hours training program on using sign-language and QR-codes in the preschool classroom to support early language acquisition and integration have proven to be successful scaffolding tools for all children, but especially those with another native tongue.
The signs used are not the international sign language, but large motor signs that help lessen frustrations in communication by supporting and putting more emphasis on the spoken word, which is used in combination with the signs.
QR-codes are used both as a pedagogical tool in the preschool classroom to spark interest and imagination in the children, but also as a tool to document progress and to communicate with parents in different languages, anything from showing them the children’s progress to important information regarding the routines, rules and regulations at the school.
